Carline
Carline van den Breemer was born on January 3th 1988 in Soest, the Netherlands. After finishing secondary school in 2006 at the Baarnsch Lyceum she studied Educational Sciences at the University of Groningen. After one year she switched to Dentistry.
During her study she was vice-president of the board of the dental student faculty association T.M.F.V. Archigenes and participated in several education committees. She obtained her qualification in 2013. Subsequently she started her PHD research on ‘Immediate Dentin Sealing in posterior restorations’, which she succesfully defended in 2018.
She combined this with working in a private dental practice, first in Groningen and now in Maarssen, Utrecht. She continues working at the Dentistry Faculty in Groningen as a teacher and researcher.
Rijkje
In 2015 ben ik begonnen met de studie tandheelkunde aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Tijdens mijn master heb ik een speciale interesse ontwikkeld in het doen van onderzoek naar minimaal invasieve adhesieve tandheelkunde en heb me daarom aangemeld voor het MD-PhD programma in 2020. Ik heb tijdens het werken aan mijn master twee wetenschappelijke artikelen gepubliceerd in high impact tandheelkundige tijdschriften over ‘Deep Margin Elevation’. In 2022 ben ik afgestudeerd aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en heb ik mijn onderzoek voortgezet.
Direct na mijn afstuderen ben ik ook twee dagen per week gaan werken in de tandartspraktijk ‘Buijs Tandartsen’ in Groningen. Deze tandartspraktijk deelt mijn passie in het uitvoeren van zeer esthetische minimaal invasieve behandelingen voor orale rehabilitatie met behulp van een operatiemicroscoop. Mijn plezier en passie komen voort uit het herstellen van tandweefsel en daarbij de natuur zo goed mogelijk na te bootsen.
Ik ben van plan om begin 2024 mijn PhD af te ronden en daarmee een bijdrage te leveren aan de tandheelkundige kennis over Deep Margin Elevation.
Marco
Prof. Dr. Marco Aurélio de Carvalho is als tandarts belast met biomimetische en esthetische tandheelkunde in het Braziliaanse Centrum voor Esthetische Tandheelkunde in Goiania, Brazilië. Hij is ook parttime onderzoeksprofessor aan het postgraduaatprogramma tandheelkunde (PPGO) en het afstudeerprogramma van de Evangelische Universiteit van Goias (UniEvangelica), Anapolis, Brazilië. Momenteel geeft hij les in restauratieve tandheelkunde, geïntegreerde klinieken, wetenschappelijk schrijven, tandheelkundige materialen – biomechanische tests en didactische materialen. Marco is verantwoordelijk voor het Dental Multiuser Research Laboratory aan de UniEvangelica en begeleidt verschillende MSc-studenten. Hij heeft meer dan 30 peer-reviewed papers gepubliceerd, 3 boekhoofdstukken geschreven en dient als reviewer voor verschillende prestigieuze tandheelkundige onderzoekstijdschriften.
Marco zou graag zien dat meer en meer tandartsen de bio-emulatieve benadering in de restauratieve tandheelkunde leren kennen en toepassen, daarom heeft hij zich aangesloten bij Summit Research om met deze onderzoeksgemeenschap samen te werken.

Gerardo
Gerardo Durán Ojeda is afgestudeerd aan de Universidad del Mar, Iquique, Chili in 2010. In 2016 behaalde hij zijn Master in Restauratieve Tandheelkunde en specialiseerde hij zich in Orale Rehabilitatie aan de Universiteit Andrés Bello, Viña del Mar, Chili.
Aan de Universiteit Arturo Prat, in Chili, coördineert hij sinds 2013 het programma Biomaterials in Dentistry, waar hij fundamenteel onderzoek doet in restauratieve tandheelkunde. Tegenwoordig is hij promovendus van de Nationale Universiteit van Cordoba, in Argentinië.
Gerardo is lid van de Academy of Dental Materials, en van verschillende andere verenigingen op het gebied van cosmetische en restauratieve tandheelkunde, en hij heeft een privé-praktijk in Iquique, Chili.
Marco
Marco Gresnigt is in 2005 cum laude afgestudeerd aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. In januari 2012 is hij gepromoveerd op de adhesieve bevestiging van facings.
Op het universitair medisch centrum Groningen is hij hoofd restauratieve tandheelkunde en biomaterialen. Daarnaast verricht hij onderzoek op het gebied van de restauratieve/adhesieve tandheelkunde en doceert hij de esthetische en reconstructieve tandheelkunde. Meerdere promovendi worden door hem begeleid en hij publiceert in peer reviewed internationale tijdschriften.
Marco geeft internationaal lezingen en cursussen op het gebied van esthetische en adhesieve tandheelkunde. Zowel op het gebied van klinische behandelingen als onderzoek heeft hij meerdere prijzen gewonnen onder andere de prestigieuze EAED Presentation Award, Internationale Smile award en LiSi World Award. Marco is de huidige voorzitter van BeNeLux afdeling van de internationale Bio-Emulation groep en ere-ambassadeur van SlowDentistry.
Jelte
Jelte Hofsteenge is in juli 2019 afgestudeerd aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.
In september 2019 begon hij aan zijn Ph.D. over de invloed van cusp capping op het herstel van vitale premolaren en kiezen. Jelte doet aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen onderzoek naar restauratieve/adhesieve tandheelkunde en doceert esthetische en reconstructieve tandheelkunde. Hij publiceerde meerdere studies in internationale tijdschriften.
Jelte werkt bij praktijk JouwTandarts in Leeuwarden waar hij algemene tandheelkunde uitvoert.
Maurits
Maurits de Kuijper (17 mei 1989) studeerde Tandheelkunde aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en voltooide de studie in 2014. In 2015 is hij gestart met een promotietraject over de directe en indirecte restauratie van endodontisch behandelde elementen, waarop hij in 2021 is gepromoveerd. In datzelfde jaar won hij met zijn proefschrift getiteld ‘Direct composite versus glass-ceramic endocrowns for mechanically compromised molar teeth’ de NWVT Hamer-Duyvenszprijs en de NTVT Debuutsprijs voor het artikel ‘Breuksterkte van verschillende types directe en indirecte restauraties bij het functioneel herstel van endodontisch behandelde molaren’.
Maurits publiceert en reviewed met regelmaat voor internationale peer-reviewed tijdschriften en verzorgt lezingen over het herstel van endodontisch behandelde elementen en restauratieve tandheelkunde in het algemeen. Vanaf september 2018 begeleidt hij studenten bij het vervaardigen van kroon- en brugwerk bij het Centrum voor Tandheelkunde en Mondzorgkunde binnen het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen.
Tevens is Maurits werkzaam bij Mondzorgcentrum Winschoten en het Centrum Bijzondere Tandheelkunde van het Martiniziekenhuis in Groningen. Zijn aandachtsgebieden zijn de restauratieve en adhesieve tandheelkunde.
Pascal
Dr. Pascal Magne is momenteel directeur van het Centrum voor Onderwijs en Onderzoek in de Biomimetische Restauratieve Tandheelkunde (CER BRD) in Beverly Hills.
In 1989 werd hij docent aan de Geneefse School voor Tandheelkunde, terwijl hij praktiseerde en een opleiding kreeg in de vaste tandprothetiek. Hij promoveerde tweemaal, in 1992 (DMD) en in 2002 (Ph.D.). De laatste terwijl hij co-auteur was van het boek Bonded Porcelain Restorations in the Anterior Dentition – A Biomimetic Approach, met professor Urs Belser (vertaald in 12 talen). In 1997-1999 zou hij zijn onderzoek naar tandheelkundige innovaties voortzetten aan de University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Hij heeft veel gepubliceerd, wat resulteerde in vele prijzen.
Pascal werd in 2004 aangeworven als voltijdse vaste faculteit van de Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry aan de University of Southern California, als Don and Sybil Harrington Professor of Esthetic Dentistry. Bij USC was Dr. Magne het speerpunt van een groot aantal curriculaire innovaties op het gebied van biomimetica, minimaal invasieve tandheelkunde en hechttechnieken. Zijn wetenschappelijke activiteiten tijdens zijn jaren daar leverden meer dan 100 peer-reviewed publicaties op en vele nationale en internationale programma’s voor permanente educatie. In 2021 publiceerde Dr. Magne de tweede editie van zijn bestseller Biomimetische restauratieve tandheelkunde.
Michael
Michael Wendler studeerde in 2009 af aan de Universidad de Concepción, Chili. Hij specialiseerde zich in 2013 in Prosthodontie en Implantologie aan de Universiteit van Córdoba, Argentinië en promoveerde vervolgens summa cum laude in de tandheelkunde aan de Friedrich-Alexander Universiteit van Erlangen-Nürnberg, in Duitsland.
Momenteel is hij universitair hoofddocent aan de afdeling restauratieve tandheelkunde van de universiteit van Concepción in Chili, waar hij de onderzoeksgroep op het gebied van tandheelkundige biomaterialen en prothesen leidt. Hij heeft meer dan 30 peer-review papers gepubliceerd in gerenommeerde tijdschriften op zijn vakgebied en heeft verschillende prijzen gewonnen, waaronder de Voco Dental Challenge in 2015 en de Hereaus-Kulzer Travel Award in 2017. Zijn belangrijkste onderzoeksinteresse is het mechanische en klinische gedrag van restauratieve materialen.
Parallel aan zijn onderwijs aan onder- en postdoctorale studenten in Concepción, werkt Michael in zijn privé tandheelkundige kliniek op het gebied van Prosthodontie en Adhesive Dentistry, waar hij voortdurend zoekt naar hoogwaardige en uitgebreide behandelingen voor zijn patiënten.
Lucas
Dr. Lucas Zago Naves is tandarts, docent en onderzoeker bij het universitair medisch centrum in Groningen (UMCG). Hij is ook onderzoeksmedewerker bij de Bio_Emulation Groep.

Rijkje
In 2015, I started studying dentistry at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. During my master’s degree, I developed a special interest in conducting research on minimally invasive adhesive dentistry and therefore applied for the MD-PhD programme in 2020. While working on my master’s, I published two scientific articles in high impact dental journals on ‘Deep Margin Elevation’. In 2022, I graduated from the University of Groningen and continued my research.
Immediately after my graduation, I also started working two days a week at the ‘Buijs Tandartsen’ dental practice in Groningen. This dental practice shares my passion in performing highly aesthetic minimally invasive treatments for oral rehabilitation using an operating microscope. My joy and passion come from restoring dental tissue and thereby mimicking nature as closely as possible.
I plan to complete my PhD in early 2024 and thereby contribute to dental knowledge on Deep Margin Elevation.
Marco
Prof. Dr. Marco Aurélio de Carvalho is a dentist in charge of biomimetic and aesthetic dentistry at the Brazilian Center for Aesthetic Dentistry in Goiania, Brazil. He is also a part-time research professor at the postgraduate dental program (PPGO) and the graduate program of the Evangelical University of Goias (UniEvangelica), Anapolis, Brazil. He currently teaches restorative dentistry, integrated clinics, scientific writing, dental materials – biomechanical testing and didactic materials. Marco is in charge of the Dental Multiuser Research Laboratory at UniEvangelica and supervises several MSc students. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers, written 3 book chapters and serves as a reviewer for several prestigious dental research journals.
Marco would like more and more dentists to learn about and apply the bio-emulative approach in restorative dentistry, which is why he has joined Summit Research to collaborate with this research community.

Gerardo
Gerardo Durán Ojeda graduated from Universidad del Mar, Iquique, Chile in 2010. During 2016 he received is Masters degree in Restorative Dentistry and also he Specialized in Oral Rehabilitation from the University Andrés Bello, Viña del Mar, Chile.
At Universidad Arturo Prat, in Chile, he coordinates the Biomaterials in Dentistry program since 2013, were he conducts basic research in restorative dentistry. Today, he is PhD candidate from the Faculty of Dentistry at the National University of Cordoba, in Argentina.
Gerardo is a member of the Academy of Dental Materials, and several other societies in the field of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, and he owns a private practice in Iquique, Chile.
Marco
Marco Gresnigt graduated cum laude from the University of Groningen in 2005. In January 2012, he received his doctorate in adhesive attachment of facings.
At the University Medical Center Groningen, he is head of restorative dentistry and biomaterials. He also conducts research in the field of restorative/adhesive dentistry and teaches aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. Several PhD students are supervised by him and he publishes in peer reviewed international journals.
Marco lectures and teaches internationally in the field of aesthetic and adhesive dentistry. Both in the field of clinical treatments and research, he has won multiple awards including the prestigious EAED Presentation Award, International Smile award and LiSi World Award. Marco is the current president of BeNeLux chapter of the international Bio-Emulation group and honorary ambassador of SlowDentistry.
Jelte
Jelte Hofsteenge graduated from the University of Groningen in July 2019.
In September 2019, he started his Ph.D. on the influence of cusp capping on the restoration of vital premolars and molars. At the University of Groningen, Jelte conducts research on restorative/adhesive dentistry and teaches aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. He published multiple studies in international journals.
Jelte practices dentistry at the private practice JouwTandarts in Leeuwarden where he performs general dentistry.
Maurits
Maurits de Kuijper (May 17, 1989) studied Dentistry at the University of Groningen and completed the study in 2014. In 2015, he started a PhD program on the direct and indirect restoration of endodontically treated elements, on which he received his PhD in 2021. In the same year, his thesis entitled ‘Direct composite versus glass-ceramic endocrowns for mechanically compromised molar teeth’ won him the NWVT Hamer-Duyvensz Prize and the NTVT Debut Prize for the article ‘Fracture strength of different types of direct and indirect restorations in the functional recovery of endodontically treated molars’.
Maurits regularly publishes and reviews for international peer-reviewed journals and lectures on the restoration of endodontically treated elements and restorative dentistry in general. As of September 2018, he supervises students in the fabrication of crown and bridge work at the Center for Dentistry and Oral Health within the University Medical Center Groningen.
Maurits also works at Mondzorgcentrum Winschoten and the Center for special dentistry of the Martini Hospital in Groningen. His areas of interest are restorative and adhesive dentistry.
Pascal

Pascal was recruited as a full-time tenured faculty of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California School in 2004, as the Don and Sybil Harrington Professor of Esthetic Dentistry. At USC, Dr. Magne spearheaded a multitude of curricular innovations in the areas of biomimetics, minimally invasive dentistry, and bonding techniques. His scholarly activity during his years there yielded over 100 peer-reviewed publications and many continuing education programs nationally and internationally. In 2021, Dr. Magne published the second edition of his bestselling book entitled Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry.
Michael
Michael Wendler graduated from the Universidad de Concepción, Chile, in 2009. He specialized in Prosthodontics and Implantology at the University of Córdoba, Argentina, in 2013, and then obtained his doctorate in Dentistry summa cum laude from the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, in Germany.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of Concepción, Chile, where he leads the research group in the fields of Dental Biomaterials and Prosthodontics. He has published over 30 peer-review papers in high-rated journals in his field and has won several prices, including the Voco Dental Challenge in 2015 and the Hereaus-Kulzer Travel Award in 2017. His main research interest is the mechanical and clinical behavior of restorative materials.
In parallel to his teaching to under- and postgraduate students in Concepción, Michael works at his private dental clinic in the fields of Prosthodontics and Adhesive Dentistry, where he continuously seeks for high-quality and comprehensive treatments for his patients.
